Sandakphu is a dream destination for many trekkers who want to explore the natural beauty of the Himalayas. It is the highest point of West Bengal, India. It will be an unforgettable memory for you if you can follow the route through the dense forest and through the local villages. It will take you 3 days to reach Sandakphu and 2 to 3 days to come down.
You can start your trek from a spot called Manebhanjan. It is a very small village in the lap of nature. It is a nice place with cheerful people who will offer you warm reception as soon as you reach there. You can hire guide and porter from Manebhanjan and start your trek to reach the next destination called Tumbling, another marvelous spot on your way to Sandakphu. Here you can stay for a night at any of the trekker’s huts.
Next morning you can start your journey as early as possible and reach Kalipokhri. On your way you will come across a picturesque place called Meghma. On your arrival at Kalipokhri you are sure to get astonished by the Blake Lake you will find there.
On the 3rd day you will reach your final destination Sandakphu. As soon as you reach there you will understand that it is not an exaggeration to call it dreamland. The snowcapped mountain peaks around will make you realize that heaven is on earth only. Watching sunrise at K2 or watching it on a moon lit light will be a breath taking experience for you.
You can stay there as long as you wish. If you have a schedule you can start descending the next day. Your first destination will be Gurdum a very small valley with a few inhabitants. Your way will be through dense forest. The view is just awesome. You can take shelter in any of the local houses for that day and head out for Srikhola the next day.
Srikhola is another place that you can compare with paradise. The meandering river and the colorful houses decorated with lovely flowers will just leave you spell bound. Staying at Srikhola can be a wonderful experience. The same day or on the next day you can start your journey to reach Rimbik the last destination of your trek.
Wish you good luck and happy journey.
